The Comedy in this is as sharp and increasingly clever and frantic as you might expect from Ian Hislop and Nick Newman. The story is also a film with Burt Reynolds as the lead - but we think a British audience will enjoy this stage version even more than the film.
Jefferson Steel is all your stereotypes of a washed up and ageing American action movie "hero" with a disastrous and self-centred personal and professional life behind him. He thinks his agent has pulled a coup to appear in Stratford playing the lead in Shakespeare. He is not going to let limited actual acting talent and long honed ego stand in his way ...........
But this is not the Stratford he thinks. And this Bunch of British misfits and eccentrics are not the professional world renowned theatre makers he expects. This cannot be happening to him ...............
